This Gallo-[Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) altar was donated by Quintus Nicennius in honor of the [Celtic](https://www.worldhistory.org/celt/) goddesses of the crossroads. The worshiping of these deities dates back to the era before the Roman occupation of [Gaul](https://www.worldhistory.org/gaul/) and what is now present-day Switzerland. This specimen is made from stone and dates from the 1st century CE. It was found in Windisch, Canton Aargau, Switzerland. (Landesmuseum, Zürich)
