## Image Caption

A marble grouping of three deities from the [Agora](https://www.worldhistory.org/agora/) of Smyrna. In the center is [Poseidon](https://www.worldhistory.org/poseidon/) who probably held a trident in his right hand. On his left is a statue of [Demeter](https://www.worldhistory.org/demeter/). To his right is the lower half of the goddess [Artemis](https://www.worldhistory.org/artemis/). The grouping was used in an altar complex in the Agora of Smyrna. Antonine Period (mid 2nd century CE).
