Emperor [Vespasian](https://www.worldhistory.org/Vespasian/) (r. 69-79 CE) issued a large series of coins commemorating the defeat of the First Jewish Revolt (66-70 CE), and [Nerva](https://www.worldhistory.org/Nerva/) (r. 96-98 CE) made coins to [mark](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Mark/) the end of abuses in the collection of the tax which Jewish were obliged to pay to [Rome](https://www.worldhistory.org/Rome/). The [coin](https://www.worldhistory.org/coinage/) on the left is a sestertius of Vespasian , with the legend "[Judaea](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/judaea/) capta". The right coin is a sestertius of Nerva. (The British Museum, London).
