Reconstructed [Viking](https://www.worldhistory.org/Vikings/) houses from the [Viking Age](https://www.worldhistory.org/collection/29/the-viking-age/) trading centre of [Hedeby](https://www.worldhistory.org/Hedeby/) (also known as Haithabu in German) in what used to be part of the Danish [Vikings](https://www.worldhistory.org/Vikings/)' territory. It now lies in Germany, near the [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) of Schleswig on the Jutland peninsula. Along with [Birka](https://www.worldhistory.org/Birka/) in present-day Sweden, Hedeby was the most important Viking Age trading centre in [Europe](https://www.worldhistory.org/europe/). These reconstructed houses are part of the Hedeby Viking Museum (Danish: Vikingemuseum Hedeby; German: Wikinger Museum Haithabu) in Busdorf, Germany.
