The [Ness of Brodgar](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ness_of_Brodgar/) excavation site in Stenness, Orkney, [Scotland](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Scotland/). The site is dated to 3500 BCE and so predates both [Stonehenge](https://www.worldhistory.org/stonehenge/) and the [Pyramids](https://www.worldhistory.org/pyramid/) at [Giza](https://www.worldhistory.org/giza/). It was discovered in 2002 and excavations are ongoing.
