It describes Danish history from prehistory through to the late 12th century CE and, among others, contains a lengthy tale on the legendary [Viking](https://www.worldhistory.org/Vikings/) hero [Ragnar Lothbrok](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ragnar_Lothbrok/) and his sons (found in book IX).
