## Image Caption

Known as the Antikythera Ethebe, the statue is one of the very few surviving ancient [Greek](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/greek/) bronzes and is a masterpiece of Greek Classical [sculpture](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Sculpture/) (c. 340 BCE) The statue may represent either [Hercules](https://www.worldhistory.org/hercules/) holding the apples of the [Hesperides](https://www.worldhistory.org/Hesperides/) or [Perseus](https://www.worldhistory.org/Perseus/) holding the head of the Gorgon [Medusa](https://www.worldhistory.org/Medusa/).
