This porphyry fragment is thought to have belonged to the sarcophagus of the [Byzantine Emperor](https://www.worldhistory.org/Byzantine_Emperor/) [Constantine the Great](https://www.worldhistory.org/Constantine_I/). 4th century CE. From Istanbul, in modern-day [Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/). (Museum of [Archaeology](https://www.worldhistory.org/Archaeology/), Istanbul, Turley).
