This larger than life 1st Century BCE granite head was found in the submerged sections of ancient [Alexandria](https://www.worldhistory.org/alexandria/), [Egypt](https://www.worldhistory.org/egypt/). It is believed to have been a part of a statue depicting [Ptolemy](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Ptolemy/) XV, commonly known as "[Caesarion](https://www.worldhistory.org/caesarion/)" ([Greek](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/greek/) for "Little [Caesar](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/caesar/)"). Caesarion is most well known for being the illegitimate son of Ptolemaic queen [Cleopatra VII](https://www.worldhistory.org/Cleopatra_VII/) and the [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) dictator [Julius Caesar](https://www.worldhistory.org/Julius_Caesar/).
