## Image Caption

The Oval Plaza of Gerasa ([Jerash](https://www.worldhistory.org/Jerash/), [Jordan](https://www.worldhistory.org/Jordan/)), built in the beginning of the 2nd century CE to connect the Cardo Maximus with the Sanctuary of [Zeus](https://www.worldhistory.org/zeus/). The colonnades were of Ionic order, with the pillars standing on low blocks.
