Reverse: Schematic [Athena](https://www.worldhistory.org/athena/) enthroned, left/right, holding [Nike](https://www.worldhistory.org/nike/), trident below. Mint: Unknown. Nominal: Gold. 1,1gr.-7,9 gr. Date: After the 80s of the 2nd c. BCE-the last quarter of the 1st c. BCE When there was no central authority in Colchis, the local lords used to strike the coins according to some popular patterns (like the staters of [Alexander](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Alexander/) and [Lysimachus](https://www.worldhistory.org/Lysimachus/)) in circulation never being particularly scrupulous about the general quality of the images and usually distorting the inscriptions.
