## Image Caption

This is a [copper](https://www.worldhistory.org/copper/) alloy mask which was part of a woman's statue. The eye sockets were inlaid. The chin is long and sharp. The forehead continues upward as a central [tang](https://www.worldhistory.org/Tang_Dynasty/) (now broken off). There are two holes at the sides of the upper part of the head, which might well have been used to attach horns or a headdress. The overall shape of the face resembles that of a Sherden Warrior. From the Middle East, precise provenance of excavation is unknown. Late [Bronze Age](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Bronze_Age/) II to [Iron Age](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Iron_Age/) I, 1400- 1150 BCE. (The British Museum, London).
