The Great [Buddha](https://www.worldhistory.org/Siddhartha_Gautama/) of [Kamakura](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kamakura/) is a monumental outdoor [bronze](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/bronze/) statue of Amitabha Buddha situated inside the Kotoku-in [Temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) in Kamakura, [Japan](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Japan/). The statue is made of bronze and dates from 1252 CE. The statue is about 13 m (43.8 ft) tall, weighing over 92 tonnes.
