# Solutrean Spear Points

## Image Caption
Palaeolithic spear points belonging to the Solutrean industry which flourished in what is now southwestern France between c. 21,000-c. 17,000 years ago. They were made by early modern humans ([Homo sapiens](https://www.worldhistory.org/Homo_Sapiens/)). Points shaped like laurel leaves, such as the ones in this image, are a distinguishing characteristic of this industry. These specific points were found in the Dordogne region in France and reside at the Field Museum in Chicago, although they were on loan at the Australian Museum in Sydney when this picture was taken in December 2017.
