## Image Caption

Sketched reproduction of the 12th-century CE Clonmacnoise Crosier, from [Ireland](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Ireland/)'s Clonmacnoise monastery. The metalwork shows a clear [Viking](https://www.worldhistory.org/Vikings/) influence (even though the Irish [Viking Age](https://www.worldhistory.org/collection/29/the-viking-age/) was already over by this time) in adopting elements of the Scandinavian Urnes style.
