The Colossus of Barletta, thought to depict [Byzantine emperor](https://www.worldhistory.org/Byzantine_Emperor/) [Leo I](https://www.worldhistory.org/Leo_I/) (r. 457-474 CE). Removed from [Constantinople](https://www.worldhistory.org/Constantinople/) in 1204 CE, it was lost in a shipwreck off the coast of Barletta, southern [Italy](https://www.worldhistory.org/italy/).
