This [bronze](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/bronze/) statuette from the late 2nd Century CE depicts the [Egyptian](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Egyptian/) goddess [Isis](https://www.worldhistory.org/isis/) in Hellenized form as [Aphrodite](https://www.worldhistory.org/Aphrodite/) but wearing the traditional vulture cap and knotted robe of Isis. Isis was a popular deity in the [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) world from the [Hellenistic period](https://www.worldhistory.org/Hellenistic_Period/) onwards and was often conflated with Aphrodite, [Venus](https://www.worldhistory.org/venus/), [Demeter](https://www.worldhistory.org/demeter/) or [Rhea](https://www.worldhistory.org/Rhea/).
