Apamea, located on the right bank of the Orontes River, was an ancient [Greek](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/greek/), [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/), and [Byzantine](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Byzantine/) [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/). This mosaic was made c. 533 CE and is made from tesserae. (Musée du Cinquantenaire, Brussels)
