Illustration
This patera for libations dates from the second half of the 3rd-early 1st cetury BCE, and it was found in the ancient Iberian Perotito Hoard. Made out of sheet silver with repoussé decoration, the patera features a traditional Iberian scene of a wolf's head devouring a human head encircled by serpents. However, both the reliefs of centuars and centaurides holding musical instruments at a nocturnal baquet and the erotes with trophies are inspired by the Late Hellenistic world. It is thought to be the work of a local craftsman. (Museo Arqueológico Nacional, Madrid)
