The Great Ball Court at [Chichen Itza](https://www.worldhistory.org/Chichen_Itza/) is the largest playing field in Mesoamerica. It measures 168 by 70 metres (551 by 230 feet) and the walls are 8 metres (26 feet) high. Here the game of Pok-a-Tok was played, the most popular and highly revered sport among the [Maya](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Maya/). The acoustics of the ball court are so fine that a visitor standing at the North [Temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) can clearly hear someone standing at the far South Temple even in whisper. If one claps one's hands, the results are amazing in the surrounding echo which a visitor should be sure to experience.
