This is the lower surface of the earring. The [cuneiform](https://www.worldhistory.org/cuneiform/) text is read vertically, from the upper surface downwards on each segment, and it continues from right to left. One of a pair of [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/) earrings, 24 carats. Gift from Shulgi to a chief of servants of a [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/). The name of the goddess Mammetum appears. Exclusive photo. [Ur](https://www.worldhistory.org/ur/) III Period, reign of Shulgi, 2093-2046 BCE. Probably from Southern [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), modern-day Iraq. (The Sulaymaniyah Museum, Iraq).
