## Image Caption

This photo, taken in July of 2005, shows the least often photographed side of the famous El Castillo, also known as The [Temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) of [Kukulcan](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kukulcan/). Most photographs are taken from the opposite side which has been extensively restored and where people gather at the equinoxes to watch the return of Kukulcan to earth.
