## Image Caption

Denisova Cave in the Altai Mountains in Siberia, Russia. It is well known for human occupation stretching back as far as 280,000 years ago and shows signs of occupation by [Neanderthals](https://www.worldhistory.org/Neanderthal/), [Homo sapiens](https://www.worldhistory.org/Homo_Sapiens/) and [Denisovans](https://www.worldhistory.org/Denisovan/). All currently known [Denisovan](https://www.worldhistory.org/Denisovan/) fossils were found in this cave.
