This white marble anthropoid (human-shaped) coffin shows a male head wearing a [Egyptian](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Egyptian/) style headdress. [Phoenician art](https://www.worldhistory.org/Phoenician_Art/) was influenced by many different traditions. Coffins of this Gaeco-Egyptian style have been found in large numbers at at the Phoenician [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) of [Sidon](https://www.worldhistory.org/sidon/), but examples are also known from [Cyprus](https://www.worldhistory.org/cyprus/), [Sicily](https://www.worldhistory.org/sicily/), and [Gades](https://www.worldhistory.org/Gades/) (modern-day [Cadiz](https://www.worldhistory.org/Gades/)). 5th century BCE.
