## Image Caption

It was a [Sumerian](https://www.worldhistory.org/Sumerians/) tradition to deposit or bury objects bearing inscriptions within temples and important public buildings. These recorded the names of the persons who were responsible for the building and also ensured divine protection. The [cuneiform](https://www.worldhistory.org/cuneiform/) text inscribed on this stone tablet reads: "For [Ninhursag](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ninhursag/): A-ane-pada, king of [Ur](https://www.worldhistory.org/ur/), son of Mes-ane-pada, king of Ur, built the [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) for Ninhursag". [Early Dynastic](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Early_Dynastic/) Period, 2500 BCE. From Tell Al-Ubaid, Southern [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), modern-day Iraq.
