Founded in 782 BCE, [Erebuni](https://www.worldhistory.org/Erebuni/) Fortress is older than the ancient [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) of [Rome](https://www.worldhistory.org/Rome/). The fortress was the chief administrative center for several generations of Urartian kings. It is considered by many historians and archaeologists to be the finest ancient fortress in present-day [Armenia](https://www.worldhistory.org/armenia/).
