This clay tablet is a copy of a royal inscription of [Hammurabi](https://www.worldhistory.org/hammurabi/), King of [Babylon](https://www.worldhistory.org/babylon/) (reigned 1792-1750 BCE), which was found in an ancient [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/). The writer has tried to imitate the original [script](https://www.worldhistory.org/script/) and has used clay of exceptional fineness. From Babylon, [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), modern-day Iraq. (British Museum, London)
