## Image Caption

This [Amarna Period](https://www.worldhistory.org/Amarna_Period_of_Egypt/) limestone relief (ca. 1353-1336 BCE) depicts Queen [Nefertiti](https://www.worldhistory.org/Nefertiti/) offering a bouquet to the Aten. It is a prime example of the typical [Amarna](https://www.worldhistory.org/Amarna/) style, as it depicts the queen with an elongated face, slanted eyes, protruding lips, and spindly limbs. Both Nefertiti and her husband [Akhenaten](https://www.worldhistory.org/Akhenaten/) (Amenhotep IV) were often portrayed with these stylized characteristics in official court and religious artwork. Currently on display at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, UK.
