This relief of a male holding a bird is from the 5th century BCE, found in modern day western [Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/) near the ancient [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) of Thyatira. Thyatira was named such by [Seleucos I](https://www.worldhistory.org/Seleucos_I/) Nicator around 290 BCE but prior to that it was an important city center for the Lydian kingdom. This relief is housed in the Akhisar History Museum, Turkey.

## About the Author

In university Ronnie concentrated his studies on the Greco-Roman world while writing his senior thesis on the Reformation. He has studied Koine Greek and Hebrew at the masters level, and is currently studying Turkish.
