A Poporo is a container used for storing lime that could be procured by crushing seashells and would later be eaten with coca leaves- a tradition in Pre-Columbian South America. This Poporo, made out of [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/) with a nude female figure carved on either side, is an example of shouldered bottles made by the skilled Quimbaya people. Amazingly, it still contains some powdered lime. 1st - 7th century CE. Quimbaya, Colombia. (Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York)
