Marble memorial to a soldier named [Ares](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ares/), who died at the age of 29 years. Both figures may represent Ares. On the left, he wears a military tunic and cloak, and makes offerings to Ares (the [god](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/) of [war](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/War/)) to bring victory. On the right he wears a civilian toga and proudly displaces his helmet, shield, and sword that he has dedicated to the god.
