## Image Caption

The [coin](https://www.worldhistory.org/coinage/) was probably turned into jewellery after circulating for some time. The fact that it is was made from [silver](https://www.worldhistory.org/Silver/) (and [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/)) suggests that coin jewellery was popular among elite and wealthy people. Silver drachm coin of the [Sassanian](https://www.worldhistory.org/Sasanian_Empire/) King [Shapur II](https://www.worldhistory.org/Shapur_II/) (Shapur II the Great), reigned 309-379 CE. Bequeathed by Pandit Bhagvanlal Indraji. (The British Museum, London).
