## Image Caption
One of the simplest ways of displaying wealthiness was to wear it, as seen in this pendant made from a [coin](https://www.worldhistory.org/coinage/). The wealthier the wearer, the more elaborate the jewellery could be. An elaborate setting could be added to turn a [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/) coin into a pendant. This pendant was made from a gold aureus coin of the [Roman Emperor](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Emperor/) Volusian (Volusianus). From the [Roman Empire](https://www.worldhistory.org/Roman_Empire/), circa 251-253 CE. (The British Museum, London).
