This [coin](https://www.worldhistory.org/coinage/) depicts Vadfradad I, king of [Persis](https://www.worldhistory.org/Persis/) (Fars) in Southern Iran, who can be identified on both sided of the coin by his special headgear. On the back (this image), a figure holds up a royal headband (diadem) as a symbol of kingship behind the ruler. The winged figure above the [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) symbolizes the glory of the king. [Silver](https://www.worldhistory.org/Silver/) tetradrachm coin from Fars, circa 280 BCE.
