Both coins were minted in [Alexandria](https://www.worldhistory.org/alexandria/), modern-day [Egypt](https://www.worldhistory.org/egypt/). The left [coin](https://www.worldhistory.org/coinage/) was minted in 137-136 BCE while the right one in 133-132 BCE. In ancient Egypt, many transactions were made in [metal](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/metal/), measured using certain weights. Once [coinage](https://www.worldhistory.org/coinage/) was introduced, a [Greek](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/greek/) system was combined with the [Egyptian](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Egyptian/) one.
