## Image Caption

This is one of a set of two earrings. The lion-head terminal in repousse is mounted in a cone of sheet [metal](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/metal/) with embossed decoration. The loop for the ear was made from three twisted wires soldered together and merging into one. From this is suspended an [amphora](https://www.worldhistory.org/Amphora/)-shaped pendant made from sheet [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/) enclosing a glass head. [Greek](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/greek/), 100-50 BCE. From Olbia, Crimea, modern-day Ukraine. (The British Museum, London).
