## Image Caption

The relief on the side of the throne shows a prize-table with a Panathenaic [amphora](https://www.worldhistory.org/Amphora/) and three wreaths on it. Under the table are two palm branches and in the background an olive tree. Two owls form the front legs. Marble chair from the Panathenaic [Stadium](https://www.worldhistory.org/Stadium/) at [Athens](https://www.worldhistory.org/Athens/), as rebuilt by Herodes Atticus, 140-143 CE. Formerly in the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton Nisbet; the throne was given to them by the Archbishop of Athens in 1801. Purchased with a grant from the Olympic Museum, Laussane. (The British Museum, London).
