These earrings show the skill and the quality achieved by [Byzantine](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Byzantine/) jewellers. They come from a treasure of 36 pieces found in [Egypt](https://www.worldhistory.org/egypt/) (the treasure is shared between museums in London, Berlin, and New York), which at this time, was part of the [Byzantine Empire](https://www.worldhistory.org/Byzantine_Empire/). The earrings formed a set with a necklace and have pendant strands terminating in the same three precious materials. Donated by Mrs. Burns. Circa 600 CE. From Asyut, Egypt. (The British Museum, London).
