This fragment of a human-headed winged-bull, from [Tiglath-pileser III](https://www.worldhistory.org/Tiglath_Pileser_III/)'s [palace](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/palace/), is carved in low-relief like a [wall](https://www.worldhistory.org/wall/) panel. There is a marked contrast with the colossal figures in very high relief, of both earlier and later periods. Assyrian, reign of [Tiglath-pileser](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Tiglath-Pileser/) III, about 728 BCE. From the Central Palace at [Nimrud](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kalhu/) (ancient [Kalhu](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kalhu/)), [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), Iraq.
