## Image Caption

The prince holds two sacred standards. In his left hand is a fetish (sacred emblem) kept in Abydos and linked to [Osiris](https://www.worldhistory.org/osiris/). Atop the other stood figures of Osiris, [Isis](https://www.worldhistory.org/isis/) and [Horus](https://www.worldhistory.org/Horus/). Prayers on the back-pillar invoke Osiris. The text around the feet states that the statue was set up in the province of Tawer, no doubt in a [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) at Abydos itself. Khaemwaset was high-priest of Ptah in [Memphis](https://www.worldhistory.org/Memphis_(Ancient_Egypt)/). Intrigued by its past, he refurbished many [Old Kingdom](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Old_Kingdom/) monuments, including [pyramid](https://www.worldhistory.org/pyramid/) complexes and a sun temple. 19th Dynasty, reign of [Ramesses II](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ramesses_II/), circa 1279-1213 BCE. Purportedly from Asyut; originally from Abydos, [Egypt](https://www.worldhistory.org/egypt/). (The British Museum, London).
