## Image Caption

A [silver](https://www.worldhistory.org/Silver/) tetradrachm from [Carthage](https://www.worldhistory.org/carthage/). The female head has been identified by some historians as [Dido](https://www.worldhistory.org/Dido/) ([Elissa](https://www.worldhistory.org/Dido/)), the legendary founder of the [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/). Other historians identify the figure as the goddess Tanit (aka Tinnit). She wears a Phrygian cap while the reverse side shows a lion, palm tree and the legend 's m mhnt' - 'of the people of the army'. From [Sicily](https://www.worldhistory.org/sicily/), 4th century BCE.
