This box was placed in the [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) of Mamu, [God](https://www.worldhistory.org/God/) of Dreams. The box is original but the tablets are plaster casts of the originals; they describe the titles and achievements of [Ashurnasirpal II](https://www.worldhistory.org/Ashurnasirpal_II/) (reigned 883-859 BCE). They narrate how he built the temple, brought timber from Lebanon for its roofs and doors, and decorated the doors with [bronze](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/bronze/). From Balawat, near [Nimrud](https://www.worldhistory.org/Kalhu/), northern [Mesopotamia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mesopotamia/), Iraq. Neo-Assyrian Period, circa 875-865 BCE.
