## Image Caption

This embossed human head stele is believed to be [Sargon II](https://www.worldhistory.org/Sargon_II/) (reigned 722-705 BCE) "who was one of the most important kings of the [Neo-Assyrian Empire](https://www.worldhistory.org/Neo-Assyrian_Empire/) as founder of the [Sargonid Dynasty](https://www.worldhistory.org/Sargonid_Dynasty/)." He is the father of [Sennacherib](https://www.worldhistory.org/sennacherib/) (reigned 705-681 BCE), perhaps the most recognizable Assyrian King due to his role in the [Old Testament](https://www.worldhistory.org/Old_Testament/) narratives (II Kings, II Chronicles, and [Isaiah](https://www.worldhistory.org/Isaiah/)). This embossed basalt stone carving is housed at the Sanliurfa Archeological Museum in Sanliurfa, [Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/).
