The ruins of the [Temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) of [Artemis](https://www.worldhistory.org/artemis/) in [Sardis](https://www.worldhistory.org/sardis/) in [Lydia](https://www.worldhistory.org/lydia/) (modern-day western [Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/)), originally built by the Greeks in 300 BCE and later renovated by the Romans in the 2nd century CE. The Temple of Artemis in Sardis was the fourth largest Ionic temple in the ancient world.
