## Image Caption

The [bronze](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/bronze/) vessel known as the Crater of Mithridates Eupator. Found in [Nero](https://www.worldhistory.org/Nero/)'s villa, [Rome](https://www.worldhistory.org/Rome/). The inscription on the vase records the name [Mithridates VI](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mithridates_VI/), king of Pontus (163-120 BCE). The vase was taken to Rome as [war](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/War/) booty by either [Pompey](https://www.worldhistory.org/pompey/) or [Sulla](https://www.worldhistory.org/sulla/).
