In the center of this [mosaic](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mosaic/) dating from CE 563 is a symbol representing the four apostles who wrote the four [gospels](https://www.worldhistory.org/The_Gospels/) found in the [New Testament](https://www.worldhistory.org/New_Testament/): Matthew is depicted as a lion; [Mark](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Mark/) is depicted as an ox; Luke is depicted as a man; and John is depicted as an eagle. Within the frame, a Syriac description reads, "this house was built in CE 563 during the days of Abbot Sam by Helpidus and Yuhannus."

In university Ronnie concentrated his studies on the Greco-Roman world while writing his senior thesis on the Reformation. He has studied Koine Greek and Hebrew at the masters level, and is currently studying Turkish.
