[Cuneiform](https://www.worldhistory.org/cuneiform/) tablet inscribed with a letter from Tushratta, king of [Mitanni](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mitanni/), to [Amenhotep III](https://www.worldhistory.org/Amenhotep_III/) of [Egypt](https://www.worldhistory.org/egypt/). It was found in Tell el-[Amarna](https://www.worldhistory.org/Amarna/) and dates from c. 1350 BC, when the [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) was known as Akhetaten. In this letter, the kings were negotiating a diplomatic mariage between Amenhotep III and a Mitanian princess. Tushratta asks for much [gold](https://www.worldhistory.org/gold/) as a bride-price.
