## Image Caption

Alinda was an ancient [city](https://www.worldhistory.org/city/) of Caria in [Anatolia](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/) (now western [Turkey](https://www.worldhistory.org/Asia_Minor/)). It was situated on a hilltop overlooking a fertile plain and was an important commercial city minting its own coins from the 3rd century BCE. The most striking ancient ruin is the [Hellenistic](https://www.worldhistory.org/Hellenic_World/) three-storey [Agora](https://www.worldhistory.org/agora/) with the lower two storeys and the exterior [wall](https://www.worldhistory.org/wall/) still intact.
