The sacred pool at [Katas Raj](https://www.worldhistory.org/Katas_Raj/) Temples, said to have sprung from the tears of [Shiva](https://www.worldhistory.org/shiva/) at the loss of his wife Satti. It is said to be the twin of the pool at Puruksha at Ajmer and is considered to be where the Pandawa brothers of the [Mahabharata](https://www.worldhistory.org/Mahabharata/) epic spent 12 years in exile. Various [Hindu](https://www.worldhistory.org/hinduism/) (left) and Sikh (center and right) era buildings can be seen surrounding the pool which constitute the Hindu [Hanuman](https://www.worldhistory.org/Hanuman/) [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) and private living areas dating from the Sikh period (1800-1850 CE).
