## Image Caption

Flora was the [Roman](https://www.worldhistory.org/disambiguation/Roman/) goddess of flowers, vegetation and fertility. Spring was her season and her [temple](https://www.worldhistory.org/temple/) stood near the [Circus Maximus](https://www.worldhistory.org/Circus_Maximus/) in [Rome](https://www.worldhistory.org/Rome/). Her festival, called the Floralia, was instituted in 238 BCE. This Roman artwork from the Hadrianic era with some modern alterations was found at [Hadrian](https://www.worldhistory.org/hadrian/)'s Villa in Tivoli ([Italy](https://www.worldhistory.org/italy/)). Now in Palazzo Nuovo, Capitoline Museums.
